Not sure how many of you watched Grindhouse, the 2-part homage to b-movies by Tarantino and Rodriguez back in 2007, but there was a spoof trailer for a movie called Machete.  I always thought to myself, ‘I would totally go see that flick.’  Well, my prayers were answered when I saw that Machete was actually a movie getting made by Robert Rodriguez.  Personally, I really liked what Tarantino/Rodriguez did for Grindhouse.  Most people hated it.  Then again, most people are idiots.  We here at FresherThan are ecstatic to know that Lindsay Lohan will be in this movie, along with Jessica Alba and Rose McGowan. Need I say more?? I haven’t seen a trailer for the actual movie, but IMDB shows it to be released in April 2010. Wait, next month?! AWESOME. On a sidenote, word is there will be an amazing topless showing of Lindsay Lohan – whilst making out with another woman. Mmmm…

Staple releases one of it’s ummm…staples, their signature New Era Pigeon fitted hats. The versions for this season include three different styles, gray wool, navy blue pinstripe and a utilitarian all-black version. The hats are available now at Hall of Fame.

Goodnight Forest Moon, created by Noah Dziobecki, is a Star Wars rendition of the children’s classic Goodnight Moon.  Better still Dziobecki outlines step by step how to print and assemble your very own copy, for free!  Also, if you want to rear your little Wookiees right, don’t stop at bedtime stories.  Head over to Amazon and pick up a copy of Wookiee Cookies, a Star Wars cook book for kiddies.

“Pursuit of Happiness”, Kid Cudi’s spaced-out MGMT/Ratatat collaboration, already had a video. It involved both Drake and slow-motion champagne spillage, and it wasn’t that good.

But an alternate video for the same song made its way onto the internet earlier this week, as New York magazine points out. And hey! This one is way better! Director Megaforce brings out some gravitational weirdness that could well make you nauseous, and Ratatat actually show up in this one.

Back in 2005, I was wrapping my album Songs About You, touring with Atmosphere and practically living in Rob Viktum’s studio doing nothing but making music. In between working on stuff from our group The Socialists and working with every other artist in the DFW area, Rob was working on his own instrumental album. For some unknown reason, he never released the final product. Hell, I had never even heard it. Today Mega Royal Records is releasing his album, Mechanized Burden, as a free download so everyone can enjoy this project that Rob put so much hard work into. This is a great album and I hope you enjoy finally hearing this as much as I did.

After releasing his sophomore solo album, Intuition comes at us with a new project called I Ruined These Songs For You. Here are some words from Intuition himself about the project:

Remember when you used to make actual tapes for your friends, or a girl you liked? You’d spend hours trying to come up with the right songs in the right order, trying to appease your friend’s preferences but show your tastes as well.  The side project I’m going to release later this month takes that exact idea, but just one step farther.  I took a collection of 11 songs that I love (no rap music), songs that I think fans of any type of music would love, and I added a verse to each.  I didn’t chop the songs up and flip the samples for brownie points. I didn’t try to make something new out of these songs.  I just tried to leave the original songs alone as much as I could, and added one verse over each song to make it seem as if I was invited into the studio with the band to collaborate.  All of these collaborations are, of course, unauthorized, but I tried to make each verse as relevant to the songs’ original lyrics as I possibly could.  The genres range from classic soul to modern indie rock, with a little bit of everything sprinkled in between.  Some of the songs might be very familiar to you, and others may not, but I feel that I’ve added a nice little compliment to each of them (you might think I ruined them though).  Enjoy.
