Escape to Plastic Beach is a 3D (Unity) action game in which Murdoc floats and fights above Plastic Beach HQ on his Doom Glider to foil 2D’s repeated escape attempts whilst battling ghost pirate ships, and a mix of other hazards and obstacles.

Designed especially for the tilt controls of the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, and featuring eight exciting levels of gun-toting, gliding actions in full 3D, as well as designs from Jamie Hewlett, and music and voice-overs from the band themselves, “Escape From Plastic Beach” is a must-have app for any Gorillaz fan.

I haven’t had a chance to download this yet, the app is at 20mb and I’m not near a WIFI spot so I can get it. Looks fun though! I’m def going to cop it and let you know what I think in the comments below.

Converse has teamed up with Kid Cudi, Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend, and Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast for a new track exclusively for Converse.  The song itself is dope as it takes 3 very talented musicians and teams them up to put together a really ill song.  Below is the link to the Converse site where you can watch the video & download the mp3 as well.  Enjoy!

By sneaker chance or fate or intention, the lusciously green Nike SB Dunk High “Skunk” will be dropping at midnight on April 20 (420) at Brooklyn Projects. Coincidentally, aside from what seems like a green brushed suede upper which is reminiscent of cannabis, the “skunk” can be a perfect allusion to the funky whiff of the official 420 substance as well (although, some might beg to differ that the 420 greens smells deliciously far from the skunk stench). Regardless, the upcoming release does feature a funky mix of greens and purple with tonal soles to match. Of course, paying tribute to the “Skunks”, the insoles feature Nike’s new fetid buddy, the namesake skunk. Don’t start your celebrations too soon so you won’t have to kick yourself when you miss the release– all rejoicing can be done after you have the gorgeous greens tucked under your arms

Whether or not your rockin the greens or tokin them, these are actually a pretty nice pair of sneaks to rock while tokin them. Sorry for not posting this sooner, but you know why I forgot.

Most who know me will know that my music right now is Electronic.  Specifically: Electro.  Well, there’s a heavy-hitter hailing from Vienna by way of Hamburg, Germany named Dirty Disco Youth.  Dude has been rockin’ the underground electronic scene since he was a teenager and has been releasing some killer tracks and remixes.  DDY has an EP coming out on 2/2/10 that is sure to please.  Below is a vid of a new track off the EP, as well as a link for a 60min mix he did for Radio NJOY.  Can’t wait for this to drop!

Tool – Lateralus (2001)

This is one of my all-time favorite albums. I picked this CD up at a pawn shop, because the album art was pretty cool. I had really little, if any, knowledge of who Tool was at that point. I saw all the rock kids who would wear their shirts, and I never understood, or cared really. Listening to this album for the first time from beginning to end was like hearing Darkside of the Moon for the first time. I’ve always been a fan of Prog-Rock, and this was the first time I heard music that made me think and feel a certain way: free. From the first track, The Grudge, to the final track, Faaip de Oiad (Enochian for “The Voice of God”), the album puts you in a sensory overload. Lateralus takes you on a rollercoaster of a ride through spirituality and reflection constantly begging you to look forward at the unknown.

Mr. Lif – I Phantom (2002)

Described as “an exploration of the dynamics of everyday life, and the pursuit of our dreams, in a rapidly decaying society.” I have Mes to thank for showing me this album. To me, the album just screams complexity and brilliance. Mr. Lif does not let you down for one second as this album that takes you on a journey through life’s struggles and accomplishments. Lif’s talent to make you listen only enhances I Phantom. Starting with what sounds like either death or a dream (perhaps both?), it’s non-stop concepts, questions and answers posses interesting and involved subjects. From a job that he hates, to having a kid, this album really touches on everything before and after our daily lives. Enjoy!

Kid Cudi – Man On The Moon (2009)

I only started listening to this album heavily within the past couple of weeks. I hesitated giving it a shot at first, something that I should not have done. Cudi has revolutionized the industry with his tenacity at showing vulnerability – which is something all of us can relate to. From his recollection at his mom grinding to make that xmas special (something I can relate to, only swap mom with dad), to him saying fuck it all, he’s gonna do what he wants. That’s the fuck-it attitude that I dig. Someone who is not afraid to tell you like it is, as opposed to rhyming the cliché’s! Man on the Moon is definitely a wondrous adventure unto itself – don’t short yourself on this journey!

Slipknot – Vol.3 (The Subliminal Verses) (2004)

Ahh, Slipknot. Where would I be without your kill-all/love-all attitude? I’ve been listening to The 9 (number of bandmembers – which coincides with their sub-monikers of numbers 0-8.) since high school. 9 hardcore mother fuckers plus “try-‘til-I-die” attitudes equals some insanity. But, Vol.3 took a 180 and let you see a side of a hardcore group that most bands wouldn’t let you witness, much less make an entire album about. Lead singer Corey Taylor shows you the power and empathy of his vocals on such tracks as Before I Forget and Duality. The Subliminal Verses is definitely for you if you are feeling everything at once. It takes you from Thrash in Blister Exists, to acoustic-led tracks such as Vermilion pt. 2 and Circle. This album is/was a turning point for  metal.

A Perfect Circle – Thirteenth Step (2003)

Another Maynard James Keenan group. Becoming such the Tool fan that I am, of course I would give APC a listen. Thirteenth Step is by far (in my opinion) the best A Perfect Circle album ever. For hardcore Tool and APC fans alike, you should know that Tool is the “masculine” side of Maynard’s music, as where APC is more the “feminine.” But there in-lies the genius of it all. Complete union between Male and Female. A Perfect Circle. But I digress. Thirteenth Step is a “point of view” album in reference to the 12-steps of rehab. There are, obviously, 12 tracks on the album. Multiple meanings and much deciphering will be involved once you TRULY begin to listen to what he is trying to say. I listen to this album a lot and still make up different ideas, reasons and meanings behind each track. It’s very difficult to describe entirely – so my suggestion, roll up a fatty, load a bowl, or open a 12pk and get to listening.
