Last year when Volkswagen premiered their Star Wars themed commercial during the Super Bowl, it was funny, cute and nerdy enough to keep everyone talking about it. Most people clearly remember the little Vader Kid and considered it one of the best of the evening. This year’s commercial has been teased on the Internet with a clip of a dog choir barking the Imperial Death March. Now an extended version of the actual ad has released online – and it’s horrible. I love Star Wars and I loved the Vader Kid, but this new ad placement is such a stretch. The commercial has nothing to do with Star Wars until the end and it has no connection with the content of the ad at all. It really feels like they are just trying to ride the success of a lucky licensing deal and failing super hard. Judge for yourself below.
