Continuing on with the idea of under-appreciated art forms I started Tuesday, today I’d like to talk about The Art of the Title Sequence. When you sit down to watch a movie, the first thing you see after the studio logos is the title sequence. It is your introduction to the film. The tone, visual palette, soundscape, and music. All of these elements are important to how you view the film that follows. When done right, you find yourself even more excited for the film you’re about to watch (se7en). When done wrong, you spend the first five minutes of the film thinking “what the hell was that?”. Art of the Title sequence focuses on the best of the bunch. Including interviews with the designers and filmmakers responsible, coupled with insightful commentary makes this site one of a kind.
