I couldn’t really tell you why people find it amusing to collect little plastic things that have no practical use, but brands like Kidrobot have shown us that people still love to collect cool shit. Ever since we were kids we loved to have that newest thing on the shelves before anyone else did. The coolest people in high school were always the ones who had the freshest gear and newest kicks. We would be fooling ourselves to pretend like we don’t still do this. Did anyone else get their iPhone on launch week? When I was a kid my favorite things to play with were always LEGO, so I am not mad at their dip into the blindbox collectible scene. I won’t act like all the above designs are dope, but I seriously can’t hate on the zombie, ninja and luchador. Hell I’m not even the biggest Kidrobot fan and really only own a handful of vinyl toys (almost all of The Simpsons toys!).
